Soul - Funk - Jazz House

MWALIM’s music: is it soul, jazz, funk, house, rock, or hip-hop? The answer is “Yes”. When you point of entrance into the music industry was as a studio session player, your sense of commitment to a single genre tends to be over-shadowed by the chameleon-like, code-switching requirements of your job.

LAND of the BLACK SQUIRRELS

A Bronx Boheme Novel by Mwalim

Land of the Black Squirrels is the first book in the Bronx Boheme literary series (Thirty-three Pages publishing). “The Bronx Boheme” made its debut at the Book Seller in Cambridge, MA in 1993 at a Brother Blue Storytelling session; and again 10 years later at the Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe in New York City as a long-form storytelling and jazz piece.

In Land of the Black Squirrels, Master storyteller, Mwalim weaves a vibrant and epic Hip-Hop Jazz folktale about the spirits that dwell within the jazz clubs, and old lofts turned into underground dance clubs, art galleries and performance spaces around New York City.
